Why we’re STOKED
2013
Foodie founders Iszy & James meet and realise on their very first date together that they both shared the same dream of one day starting their own company, in order to fund their own charity where 100% of the raised funds go to those who need it – CEOs of charity organisations on over £100k salaries just didn’t make sense!
2014
Started Embers – a part-time,freerange BBQ street food stall in Bristol
2015
Mitchells & Butlers threatened legal action with the Embers trademark application, so changed name to STOKED.
2016
Soon realised cooking meat was simply unsustainable, everything smelt, it was grimy, expensive, greasy and took the whole of the next day to clean the BBQ! Thought there must be a better way!
2017
Turned STOKED plant-based and haven’t looked back!
It’s so much nicer only cooking with plants, not to mention the many other positives!
2020
Launched Stoked’s Mexicana Street Food menu full-time on Wine Street, Bristol.
Couple of months later the C-word hit!
Started delivering Chilli non Carne frozen around Bristol, then later as a hot, pre-packaged product around North Somerset.
2021
Back on the street.
Soon realised the UK weather made outside trading very unreliable, want to get into retail!
Also noticed a lot of regular street food customers and guests at events were meat-eaters and loved the Chilli non Carne (some didn’t even know it was plant-based until they were told!) – confirmed this was the product to launch into retail!
2022 – 2023
Kept-up the street food and event catering, but in the background developed the Chilli non Carne into an ambient ready meal, hot-filling into glass jars.
Bought the domain LentalHealth.com to one day launch the charity LentalHealth, helping the homeless, mental health sufferers and ex-servicemen suffering from both!
2024
Decided to swap to tins instead glass jars and started to develop 4x other products.
2025
Finished developing 4x additional products, new website, ready to launch!
How we’re STOKED
- Only cook with pure natural ingredients.
- Ready meal products are zero allergen, high fibre and high natural protein.
- Chilli non Carne is 100% organic and fair-trade
- Only provide compostable packaging, zero plastic.
- Zero wastage, nothing goes to landfill and everything is recycled.
- Unsold food given to the homeless.
Why we’re STOKED for the future
STOKED is to be known for wonderful things! Not only for tasty, healthy food that’s appealing to everybody, but also for encouraging responsibility and positive changes for the future.
We’re not plant-based, vegan or environmentalists, we’re just common-sensed realists who love tasty food! Using beans & lentils just makes so much sense to us, it’s obvious really:
- Improve the planet’s health by reintroducing nitrogen into the soil.
- Excellent sources of nutrients, including protein, fiber, iron, potassium, folate, and various B vitamins.
- Good source of complex carbohydrates and contain antioxidants.
- Can help lower cholesterol, blood pressure and can even help cure some cancers!
- Have a lower environmental impact compared to animal products, particularly meat, due to their lower
water and land requirements and lower greenhouse gas emissions during cultivation and processing.
